Dab Rigs

A dab rig is a small glass water pipe made for concentrates: the concentrate goes onto a heated banger or nail instead of into a bowl of flower, and the water in the chamber cools the vapour before it reaches the mouthpiece. Rigs are usually smaller than bongs, with a shorter path from the banger to the mouthpiece.

Types of dab rigs

• Mini rigs: compact rigs that are easy to handle and clean, and the usual choice for a first rig.
• Percolator rigs: a percolator (a glass insert that splits the vapour into smaller bubbles) adds a stage of water filtration.
• Recycler rigs: two linked chambers keep the water circulating, so the vapour passes through it more than once.
• Rig kits and box sets: the rig sold with its banger, carb cap and accessories in one box, so the customer has everything in one purchase.
• Character and themed rigs: glass shaped or decorated as a figure, from hand-sculpted pieces to licensed designs.

What to check before you order

• Joint size: 10 mm and 14 mm are the most common on rigs; the banger has to match the joint size.
• Joint gender: a female joint takes a male banger, and a male joint takes a female banger.
• Joint angle: a 90 degree joint takes a 90 degree banger, a 45 degree joint a 45 degree banger.
• What is in the box: some rigs ship with a banger and carb cap, others as the glass only.
