Rosin & Extraction

Rosin is a solventless concentrate made by pressing the starting material between heated plates, with no solvent involved. The oil collects on non-stick pressing paper, and is then cured and stored. This category covers each step of that process, from pressing to storage.

What a rosin setup needs

  • Rosin press: two heated plates that close under force. A manual press is worked by hand, with a lever or a screw.
  • Pressing paper: siliconized parchment laid on the plates, so the rosin lands on a non-stick surface and lifts off cleanly.
  • Curing chamber: holds the rosin at a set temperature after pressing.
  • Storage: storage paper and vacuum sealing protect the rosin once it is finished.

What to check before you order

  • Force and plate size together: presses are rated in kilograms or tonnes of force, and the same force on a smaller plate gives more pressure per square centimetre.
  • Paper size: pressing paper is cut to size, so match it to the plate dimensions of the press the customer uses.
  • Temperature range: check the heating range of a press and the temperature range of a curing chamber against the process the customer runs.

Sell with it

Pressing paper is replaced as customers press, which brings them back for repeat orders after the press itself. Stock them with wax and dab tools for handling, concentrate vaporizers to use the finished rosin, and storage and containers.
